Music: Artist in Rhythm
With more than 40 years under his belt as a musician, Artist in Rhythm owner Steve Douglas has mastered the art of providing the perfect soundtrack at weddings. Unlike bands with a certain shtick, Douglas assembles every one of his bands based around the needs of each bridal couple. Do you want a swing band? No problem. How about a jazz trio? Can do. As a classically trained string bass and guitar player, he says there is no request that he and his fellow musicians can’t meet. “We all read music, so there is nothing we can’t play.” One recent bride wanted a bagpiper to perform the Notre Dame fight song; Douglas lined one up-no sweat. As a surefire way to live up to the expectations of each bride, he gets a song list from each couple and has them highlight the songs into categories according to when they would like to hear each tune-everything from Dire Straits to John Mayer. “Everything about a wedding is expected to be perfect. The least I can do is provide exactly the kind of music the couple wants to hear.”
